Drone Giant Takes Flight on Two Wheels: Unveiling the Amflow PL e-MTB
Drone giant DJI has landed in the e-bike world with the launch of the Amflow PL, a new electric mountain bike powered by their own innovative Avinox drive system.
Amflow, a brand incubated by DJI, is responsible for the bike’s ultra-lightweight carbon fiber frame. But the real star of the show is the Avinox system, entirely designed by DJI.
Drawing on their expertise in motors, batteries, and software, DJI has created a powerful system featuring a mid-drive motor, a 2-inch OLED touchscreen display, remote controls, and a charger/supercharger. The motor boasts an industry-leading power-to-size ratio thanks to a unique compound planetary gearset.
Lightweight Champion: The 600 Wh battery is remarkably light, keeping the entire bike at a manageable 19.2 kg (42 lb). An 800 Wh battery option is also available for those seeking extended range. To add to the convenience, a 500W fast charger can juice the battery up to 75% in just 1.5 hours.
Powerhouse Performance: The Avinox motor packs a punch with 850W of peak power in standard modes, and a whopping 1,000W in Boost Mode. But the true muscle comes from the torque – 105 Nm, increasing to 120 Nm in Boost Mode. An Auto Mode adapts assistance based on terrain and riding style for a seamless experience.
Tech-Savvy Ride: The Avinox system features a built-in touchscreen display and connects to smartphones via the Avinox app. This app unlocks a range of features like bike security, data tracking, ride parameter adjustments, and real-time bike status. The system even includes innovative wireless controllers for a clean handlebar setup.
More to Come: While details about the bike itself (beyond the lightweight frame) are still under wraps, DJI has certainly made a strong entrance into the e-bike market. Their Avinox drive system boasts impressive power, lightweight design, and tech-forward features.
