Mercedes-AMG Unveils Innovative E-Bike Lineup
The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team has just launched a groundbreaking series of e-bikes and road bikes, integrating over 75 years of motorsports technology.
Among the four new models, the standout is the F1 Rallye Edition 750, highlighted in a recent report by Sports Illustrated. Developed in collaboration with bike manufacturer n+, the lineup includes the rugged Rallye and Track editions, as well as the street-oriented Road and Urban versions.
Priced at $7,500, the performance-driven Rallye e-bike boasts electronic gears that shift in just 0.2 seconds—an impressive feature reminiscent of the swift gear changes seen in Formula One racing. This model is designed to tackle steep terrains with ease and can shift smoothly even under heavy loads, making it perfect for challenging rides.
But the F1 Rallye Edition offers more than just advanced cycling capabilities. It comes equipped with a Bluetooth-connected helmet featuring a light-sensitive headlight, brake lights, and thumb-operated turn signals. Additionally, it includes integrated crash detection that alerts designated contacts via text if the bike’s telemetry indicates an accident.
For those looking to swap their traditional vehicles for something more eco-friendly, the F1 Rallye Edition is a strong contender. It features a 720-watt-hour battery capable of delivering up to 70 miles on a single charge and is hot-swappable, making it ideal for extended off-grid adventures.
While the Mercedes-AMG models are certainly more performance-oriented than typical e-bikes, the trend is encouraging. According to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, many people are more likely to try e-bikes before transitioning to electric cars. “Most people’s first experiences with electric vehicles are with an e-bike, not an electric car,” notes Andrew Duvall, a transportation behavior analyst at NREL. “To support e-bike adoption, we need policies that encourage more people to give them a try.”

Their growing popularity is even influencing the oil industry, helping to decrease global demand for fossil fuels, which amounts to 16.5 billion tons annually.
