Oregon’s Bend Launches $1,800 E-Bike Rebate Program to Boost Clean, Healthy Transportation
Commute Options and the City of Bend have teamed up to launch a new E-Bike Rebate Program. Starting Monday, eligible Bend residents can get up to $1,800 back when they buy an electric bike from local shops.
This program is funded by the Pacific Power Foundation. It aims to make e-bikes more affordable while supporting local businesses like BendR Cyclery/Ride2You and Bend Electric Bikes.
Brian Potwin, executive director of Commute Options, says e-bikes help people get around easily. They connect riders to work, school, and daily errands. He adds that the program helps provide healthy, affordable transportation options in Bend.
Bend Mayor Melanie Kebler calls the program a “collaborative partnership” that can bring real change. She says the rebate makes e-bikes accessible for more people. This helps reduce traffic and encourages a healthier lifestyle. Plus, it moves Bend closer to a greener future.
To qualify, you must:
- Be 18 or older
- Live in the City of Bend
- Be a Pacific Power customer
- Have a household income at or below 80% of the area median income
- Complete an e-bike safety course from Commute Options
Applications open June 16, 2025. The program will award 70 rebates in total. Winners are chosen by lottery every three weeks, giving everyone a fair chance.
Shawn Grant from Pacific Power highlights the importance of teamwork in making this possible. The program supports sustainable travel and a cleaner energy future in Oregon.
