FLIT M2 folding e-bike launches with a caviar bundle to mock luxury pricing

Last Updated on October 20, 2025 by Kristina

Folding e-bikes are getting lighter, smarter and very expensive.
This week, a British maker decided to poke fun at that trend.
FLIT launched a new folding e-bike and added a strange bonus: half a kilo of real caviar.
That is about 1.1 lb of caviar.
The bundle works as a joke, but also as a message about rising prices in the premium folding space.

FLIT is based in Cambridge.
Its new M2 weighs about 14.5 kg (32 lb) including battery.
That is light for a folding e-bike.
The frame uses bonded aluminium to save weight.
The fold is compact for trains, flats and cars.
The folded size is 797 × 600 × 305 mm which is about 31.4 × 23.6 × 12.0 inches.

The battery is 230 Wh with a claimed range of up to 50 km (31 miles).
The base bike starts at about £2,499 which is roughly US $3,400.
The “caviar bundle” jumps to about £5,800 which is roughly US $7,800.
That is still cheaper than some ultra-premium folders that push close to five figures.
FLIT says the caviar is satire — a way to point at luxury pricing in the category.

How it compares to other folding ebikes

Carbo Model X — ultra-light carbon folder, premium build, higher price.
Velotric Fold 1 Plus — strong range and value at a mid price.
Lectric XP4 — budget-friendly, widely used, heavy but cheap.
Blix Vika X — balanced spec and size, not in the ultra-light niche.

These bikes serve the same “fold and commute” need, but they land at very different price points.
FLIT’s pitch is simple: you can get light weight and solid build without joining the “luxury tax” club.

The bigger point

The caviar stunt is loud on purpose.
It forces a question: do light folding bikes really need luxury prices?
FLIT argues no.
The M2 aims to deliver “good engineering and fair price” instead of “status pricing”.

Conclusion

FLIT’s caviar move is fun to read about, but the debate behind it is real.
Do folding e-bikes cost too much — or are we just paying the market rate for weight savings and brand polish?
