Flitedeck’s Smart Handlebar: The Future of E-Bike Control

Flitedeck is about to revolutionize high-end cycling with a game-changing product. This sleek carbon-fiber handlebar integrates a 180x70mm IP68 waterproof touchscreen cycling computer with GPS navigation, fitness connectivity, security features, crash detection, lighting controls, and even training modes.

What’s so striking about Flitedeck is not just its futuristic design, but the fact that no one thought to create something like this before. While electric bikes are now coming equipped with digital displays, the premium race bikes still rely on bulky, separate bike computers mounted on handlebars. Flitedeck solves this by seamlessly combining all these features into one elegant unit.

With built-in Wi-Fi and an E-sim, the handlebar allows for wireless downloads of maps, training data, and more, as long as you’re in range of a phone signal. The device is compatible with standard cycling sensors, including power meters, heart rate monitors, and the Garmin Varia radar, which alerts cyclists to approaching traffic from behind. Although early ideas of adding a rear-view mirror camera have been shelved, this still positions Flitedeck as an all-in-one solution.

The idea for Flitedeck came from a frustration shared by cofounder Sabrina Fischer. After falling in love with road cycling in 2020, she was annoyed by the unattractive lights and computers she had to attach to her bike. She and her cofounder, Matthias Huber, began asking, “Why can’t handlebars be like a car’s cockpit?” Fischer explains, “We wanted a more integrated, connected solution.”

Why had the cycling industry not come up with this before? According to Huber, “Electronics aren’t really the focal point for bike manufacturers. They’re experts in carbon fiber, aluminum, and quality control, but electronics come from third-party suppliers like Bosch.”

Fischer and Huber aren’t new to engineering—both have backgrounds at BMW, Porsche, and Roborace, with Fischer even helping develop the Porsche 911 GT3 front axle. Their expertise in both automotive design and carbon-fiber manufacturing sets them up to create a high-end product like Flitedeck.

At around 800 grams (28 ounces), Flitedeck may not be the lightest handlebar on the market (a typical carbon race handlebar weighs just 160 grams), but when compared to separate bike computers and lights, it’s still quite competitive. Charging the Flitedeck via USB-C provides a battery life of 20 to 30 hours. While it may not be the most weight-conscious option, for serious cyclists who already have other electronic gear to charge, it’s a small tradeoff.

Flitedeck’s design doesn’t allow for swapping between road, MTB, or gravel bikes like a traditional bike computer, nor can users upgrade the device when a newer model comes out. But it’s clear that this is a premium product aimed at serious cyclists willing to invest in cutting-edge technology.

Funding for Flitedeck comes from a rather unconventional source—OnlyFans. Fischer built a substantial social media presence, and after analyzing traditional crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter, the duo opted to leverage OnlyFans to raise funds while maintaining full control over their company. In just over a year, Fischer has become one of the top 0.19% of creators on the platform, earning substantial income that’s allowed Flitedeck to stay independent and move forward with development.

The cycling world’s response to Flitedeck has been mostly positive, with Flitedeck already receiving attention from a well-known UCI WorldTour cycling brand as an investor. While their goal of securing 500 preorders for production by Q2 2026 is still ongoing, they remain confident that Flitedeck will make it to market—whether or not they hit that exact target.

Priced at $1,694 (with an expected retail price of $2,382), Flitedeck is certainly a premium product. But in an industry where cyclists regularly drop thousands on wheels, seat posts, and groupsets, this price seems reasonable for the innovation it offers. For those seeking an exclusive experience, Flitedeck also offers a $26,400 “Ultimate Adventure” package, including luxury accommodations, personalized cycling experiences, and exclusive content with Sabrina Fischer herself.

Flitedeck is more than just a handlebar—it’s a glimpse into the future of cycling technology.
