PVY X20 and MAX26: Powerful New E-Bikes with Impressive Range

When it comes to e-bikes, finding a single model that meets every need might seem like chasing a mirage. Yet, PVY, a burgeoning player in the e-bike and micromobility market, is making strides towards achieving that goal with their latest offerings: the X20 and MAX26.
Recognizing the diverse needs of cyclists—from the avid fisherman who relies on their bike for remote trips to the urban commuter who needs a reliable city ride—PVY has crafted two new e-bikes designed to cater to a variety of riders. Both the X20 and MAX26 are “fatty” bikes, meaning they come equipped with wide, comfortable tires and robust features that set them apart in the European market.
The PVY X20: Retro Style Meets Impressive Range
The X20, the more compact of the two new models, boasts a design inspired by classic cafe racers, making it a hit among sportier riders. Although it arrives with a motor limited to 250W to comply with EU regulations, it’s capable of much more. The X20 is equipped with 20-inch fat tires and dual suspension—both a suspension fork and a rear shock absorber—that ensure a smooth, comfortable ride.
One of the standout features of the X20 is its dual-battery system. With batteries mounted on both the top tube and the downtube, the X20 offers an impressive combined range of up to 200 km (124 miles). Other features include a 7-speed Shimano gearshift, hydraulic brakes, a twist throttle, and a walk mode for easier handling. In its locked mode, the bike reaches speeds of 25 kph (15.5 mph), which can double if you unlock the motor to unleash its full 100Nm of torque. The bike is powered via a cadence sensor.
Weighing in at 37 kg (81.5 lbs) due to its upgraded aluminum frame, the X20 is versatile but might be cumbersome for those in smaller living spaces. It comes with an LCD display, dual headlights, rear lights, and stylish retro aesthetics available in two color options.
The PVY MAX26: Power and Performance Amplified
The MAX26 takes the concept of the X20 and amplifies it. This model is designed for those who need a high-performance e-bike that excels both in urban environments and off-road adventures. Featuring dual motors, each capable of 1,200W peak power (also locked to 250W upon delivery), the MAX26 offers double the torque, making it ideal for hill climbing and cargo hauling. A standard metal rear rack enhances its utility for carrying goods.
The MAX26 rides on larger 26-inch fat tires and includes hydraulic brakes, integrated fenders, and lights. It also features a waterproof color display and a 7-speed Shimano gearshift. Like the X20, power is delivered through a cadence sensor, though the twist throttle helps manage any delays in assistance. The estimated range is 200 km (124 miles) in motor-assisted mode and 100 km (62 miles) in moped-only mode.
Both the X20 and MAX26 are compatible with the PVY smart bike helmet, a range of PVY accessories including brake locks and carrier bags, and the company’s version of an AirTag for locating stolen bikes.
Priced at an introductory €1,399 (from €1,499) for the X20 and €1,599 (from €1,699) for the MAX26, these models offer competitive value. At the current exchange rate, that’s approximately $1,552 and $1,774, respectively. While there’s no news yet on availability in the U.S., these bikes are set to make a significant impact on the European e-bike market.
