Denver’s Final E-Bike Rebates of 2024: Here’s How to Get One

Spread the love

As of October 29 at 11 a.m., Denver will release its last round of e-bike rebates for 2024. With $8.6 million invested since April 2022, this initiative has already enabled 9,169 residents to purchase e-bikes. Here’s everything you need to know if you’re hoping to grab one of these highly sought-after rebates.

How Much Could You Save?

Denver’s rebate program offers residents various discounts on e-bikes:

  • Standard rebate: $300 off an e-bike or $500 off an e-cargo bike.
  • Income-qualified rebate: Up to $1,400 for residents with qualifying income.

If you score a rebate, you’ll have plenty of options, with 28 participating bike shops located in Denver and nearby cities like Aurora, Colorado Springs, and Littleton.

For those who don’t qualify, Colorado’s year-round program offers a $450 state tax credit at participating bike shops. However, you can’t combine city and state benefits.

Impact of the E-Bike Program

Since launching in 2022, Denver’s e-bike rebate program has had significant impact:

  • Rebates distributed: 9,169
  • Bike types: 53% standard e-bikes, 46% e-cargo bikes, less than 1% adaptive e-bikes
  • Income-qualified participants: Just under 50%
  • Community outreach: With support from 64 community groups, 571 rebates were claimed by residents who may not have accessed the program online.

2025: What’s Next for the Program?

Denver plans to invest another $2 million in the e-bike program in 2025, similar to this year’s funding level. However, the specifics of next year’s program might change, as the city’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability, and Resiliency (CASR) will review data from 2024 to make adjustments. Last year, feedback led to changes, such as restricting rebates to e-bikes with UL-certified batteries and extending the redemption period.

Climate Action Through E-Bikes

The e-bike rebate program is part of a broader environmental initiative funded by the Climate Protection Fund, a sales tax passed by Denver voters in 2020. With $40 million annually dedicated to various climate efforts—including solar power, energy efficiency, and neighborhood programs—Denver’s e-bike program underscores the city’s commitment to sustainable urban transportation and reducing carbon emissions.

If you’re interested in getting an e-bike, don’t miss out on Denver’s final 2024 rebate opportunity. Act quickly, be prepared, and you could be one of the lucky residents to benefit from this climate-conscious program!
