While acknowledging the affordability gap for EVs, the city is exploring additional solutions like car-sharing models to make electric vehicles more accessible in the future. Residents can expect to see these charging stations operational by spring 2025.
Greening the Skies: San Antonio Airport Energy Master Plan
The third initiative focuses on developing an Energy Master Plan for the San Antonio International Airport. This plan will explore ways to improve energy efficiency and resilience, potentially incorporating renewable energy sources and battery storage solutions. As a major energy consumer, the airport holds significant potential for environmental impact reduction.

This grant is part of a larger DOE program awarding $150 million to government entities nationwide. While San Antonio is leading the way in Texas, there are still 95 government entities in the state that have yet to apply for their share of the funding.
