Decathlon Reveals Rockrider E-EXPL 900: New Kids’ Electric Mountain Bike
Decathlon has revealed its latest addition to the Rockrider family, the Rockrider E-EXPL 900, at Roc d’Azur 2024. This new 26″ electric mountain bike is specially designed for children, offering a smaller and more accessible model. With a compact size, powerful motor, and durable build, the bike is aimed at young adventurers looking to explore the outdoors with an extra boost.

The Rockrider E-EXPL 900 is powered by a Mahle X30 rear hub motor, delivering up to 45 Nm of torque while adding just 1.9 kg (4.2 lbs) to the bike’s overall weight. Paired with a 237Wh battery discreetly hidden inside the bike’s frame, it provides an impressive assistance range of 60 to 100 km (37 to 62 miles), depending on terrain and riding conditions.
The bike is built for both performance and comfort, featuring:
- A RockShox Judy RK suspension fork with 80 mm of travel, allowing for smooth handling on rugged trails.
- Hutchinson Toro 26” tires, providing excellent grip and durability for off-road adventures.
- Microshift Advent M6195 9-speed derailleur, ensuring versatile gearing options for various terrains.
- Tektro hydraulic disc brakes for reliable stopping power in all conditions.
Weighing approximately 16 kg (35 lbs), the Rockrider E-EXPL 900 is relatively lightweight for an e-bike and is designed to accommodate children between 135 and 150 cm tall (4′ 5″ to 4′ 11″).
Release Date and Pricing:
The Rockrider E-EXPL 900 is set to be released in Europe in 2025, with some reports suggesting a launch as early as May, while others indicate a release closer to September. The bike is expected to retail for around €1,800 and may be available for rental as well as purchase. It remains unclear whether the bike will also be launched in the UK, but many are hopeful that it will reach a wider audience.
This new model follows the success of Decathlon’s first kids’ e-bike, the Rockrider E-ST 500 26”, which was introduced last year. With its enhanced features and robust design, the E-EXPL 900 promises to be a popular choice for young cyclists eager to take on mountain trails with the added power of electric assistance.
