? Newport Beach Bans E-Bikes on Sand
In response to safety concerns, Newport Beach has enacted a ban on e-bikes, bicycles, motorized scooters, and pedicabs from the sand at city beaches. Violators may face fines up to $500 for repeated offenses. However, e-bikes are still permitted on the paved boardwalk between 36th Street and E Street, with an enforced speed limit of 8 mph.
Inspiring Ride: 96-Year-Old Logs 2,000 Miles on E-Bike
Ed McLaughlin, a 96-year-old resident of Rapid City, South Dakota, took up e-biking at age 94 after being inspired by his neighbor Jim Stone.
Over two years, the duo has covered more than 2,000 miles, riding daily around their retirement community.
McLaughlin credits regular cycling with improved mobility and strength, proving it’s never too late to embrace new activities.
