Polestar Unveils Electric Mountain Bike to Complement Its SUVs

In an emerging trend, automakers are increasingly collaborating with specialized micromobility firms to offer compact, lightweight vehicles that complement their car lineups. Polestar, the electric performance brand, has recently introduced a new electric mountain bike designed to perfectly pair with its range of SUVs. This innovative bike, developed by Swedish company Allebike, is set to elevate the outdoor experience for Polestar enthusiasts.

The electric mountain bike boasts a full-suspension design with robust 29-inch wheels. It offers impressive suspension travel, featuring 6.7 inches in the front and 6.3 inches in the rear, ensuring a smooth ride over rough terrain. At the heart of the bike is a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer frame housing a Shimano EP8 mid-drive motor, capable of delivering a peak output of 500 watts and up to 62.7 pound-feet (85 Nm) of torque. This powerful motor provides a significant advantage when tackling steep climbs, while the 750-watt-hour battery—one of the largest available—ensures that riders can enjoy extended adventures. With a full charge, the pedal assist can last up to 60 miles, making it an ideal companion for both leisurely rides and challenging trails.

While Polestar does not manufacture the bike in-house, it is crafted specifically for the brand, featuring Polestar’s official script branding and distinctive gold accents that align with its vehicle lineup. The striking Polestar color scheme enhances its aesthetic appeal, especially when mounted on the back of a Polestar 3, as showcased in the promotional images.

However, this premium electric mountain bike comes with a premium price tag of €8,900 (approximately $9,900). The Allebike Elize Polestar Engineered is available for delivery exclusively within European Union countries and Switzerland.

This isn’t Polestar’s first venture into micromobility. In 2021, the brand introduced the Makka – Polestar edition, a small electric moped created in partnership with Swedish manufacturer Cake. Designed for urban commuting, the Makka featured a 1.5 kWh battery, a top speed of 28 mph, and Öhlins suspension, retailing for €5,300 during its availability.

As Polestar continues to innovate in the micromobility space, the new electric mountain bike represents a significant step in enhancing the outdoor lifestyle for its customers, ensuring that adventure is always within reach.
