Yamaha-Backed ENYRING Aims to End E-Bike Charging Forever
Worried about your e-bike running out of juice? That fear—known as range anxiety—might soon be a thing of the past.
ENYRING, a startup backed by Yamaha Motor, is working on a smarter solution: swappable batteries. No more plugging in. No more waiting. Just swap and go.
Now, ENYRING has teamed up with Swobbee, Europe’s top battery-swapping infrastructure provider. Together, they plan to bring this game-changing tech to Amsterdam and Berlin later this year.
The Big Idea: Swap, Don’t Charge
Here’s how it works. Instead of charging your e-bike battery at home or at work, you simply head to a nearby swap station. Trade your empty battery for a fully charged one. That’s it. You’re back on the road in seconds.
Swobbee will supply the hardware and backend software for ENYRING’s platform. Their modular swap stations are already trusted across Europe—and they’re growing fast.
“Swobbee’s system gives us the perfect foundation,” says Satoru Moriyama, CEO of ENYRING. “It lets us offer unlimited range and lower entry costs for e-bike riders.”

Why It Matters
ENYRING launched in 2023 with a clear goal: make e-bike ownership easier and more sustainable. Their subscription model is designed with both convenience and the planet in mind. By maximizing battery reuse, they reduce waste and extend battery life.
Swobbee, based in Berlin, is already a big player in this space. They’ve rolled out over 100 battery swap stations across Europe and are now expanding to the U.S. They even helped power a shared e-moped service using Yamaha’s electric scooters.
“This is about building smarter cities,” says Swobbee’s CEO Thomas Duscha. “We’re setting new standards for both sustainability and convenience.”
Fast, Clean, and Scalable
Battery swapping isn’t new—but it’s finally picking up speed. In Asia, companies like Gogoro have proven that the model works, with hundreds of millions of battery swaps under their belt. In South America and Africa, startups like Vammo and Spiro are making similar moves.
For electric bikes, the model is especially compelling. It’s fast. It’s easy. And it fits perfectly into the growing micromobility ecosystem.
Delivery fleets, shared bike services, and daily commuters could all benefit. No waiting. No range worries. Just swap and ride.
Looking Ahead
The initial rollout in Amsterdam and Berlin could spark wider adoption across Europe. If the pilot succeeds, it may change how we power e-bikes for good.
Charging at home? That might soon feel like a thing of the past.
