Arizona Teen Returns Lost Wallet—Gets Surprise Electric Bike as a Thank You
Sometimes doing the right thing really does pay off. Just ask 14-year-old Cody Chalmers from Chandler, Arizona.
Last month, while riding his bike around town, Cody spotted something on the ground—a lost wallet. Inside? $300 in cash and a stack of credit cards.
Honesty Over Opportunity
Most kids might’ve hesitated. Cody didn’t.
Even though he had been saving up for an electric dirt bike, he didn’t think twice. Instead, he snapped a photo of the ID inside the wallet and sent it to his mom. She did a quick search online, found a phone number, and helped get the wallet back to its owner.
Cody said it felt good to do the right thing.
“I thought someone would feel really bad if they lost it, so I was like, I better return this,” he told AZ Family.
He also remembered how upset his dad was years ago after losing his own wallet. That stuck with him.
From Lost Wallet to Dream Ride
His mom, Carrie Strecker, was so proud she shared the story on a local Chandler Facebook group. Cody joked, “I’m a Good Samaritan now, huh mom?”
And that’s when the magic happened.
A stranger—moved by Cody’s honesty—reached out. He asked Carrie for the link to the electric bike Cody had been saving for. Then, with no fanfare, he bought it for him.
The e-bike cost over $3,000. The man paid every penny.

Now, Cody cruises Chandler’s sunny streets on his sleek black e-bike—from a brand called (you won’t believe this) Integrity E-Bikes.
Sometimes, the world gives back in the best possible way.
