Voi RideSafe Academy: Free E-Scooter & E-Bike Safety Training

Last Updated on October 4, 2026 by Kristina

Update – October 4, 2026: Voi’s RideSafe Academy remains available as free online e-scooter and e-bike safety training. The course covers riding safety, traffic rules, and responsible parking. Voi currently advertises 30 free minutes of riding for people who complete the course, although availability and redemption terms may depend on the local Voi market.

If you want broader rider education beyond one operator’s course, see my guide to electric-bike training and certification programs. You can also review e-bike rules of the road for general riding guidance.

Is Voi RideSafe Academy Still Available?

Yes. RideSafe Academy is still available as Voi’s free online safety-training program for e-scooter and e-bike riders. Voi describes the program as open to everyone, not only existing Voi customers.

The course is designed as rider education rather than a formal riding certification. It focuses on practical topics such as safe riding, traffic rules, and responsible parking.

What Does RideSafe Academy Teach?

Voi’s current safety materials describe RideSafe Academy as online training that covers traffic rules, safe riding behavior, and parking. The lessons are designed to help riders understand how to use shared micromobility more responsibly in the places where Voi operates.

That makes the academy useful as an introductory safety resource, but riders still need to follow the actual laws, road rules, and operator terms that apply where they ride.

Do You Still Get a Free Voi Ride?

Voi currently advertises 30 free minutes of riding for people who complete RideSafe Academy. Southampton City Council also tells riders that completing the academy earns a code for a free 30-minute Voi ride.

Because Voi operates in multiple cities and countries, I would not assume that every market uses identical reward or redemption terms. Check the RideSafe Academy page, local Voi app information, or your local operator terms before relying on a specific promotion.

Current E-Scooter Rules in England

England’s government-backed rental e-scooter trials are currently due to run until May 31, 2028. Approved rental e-scooters participating in those trials may be used under the trial rules on roads other than motorways and in permitted cycle lanes and tracks, but not on pavements.

Privately owned e-scooters remain illegal to use on public land in England. They can generally be used only on private land with the landowner’s permission.

That legal position is separate from the rules for electric bicycles, so riders should not assume that an e-scooter and an e-bike are regulated in the same way.

How to Take the Course

You can access the training through the Voi RideSafe Academy. Review the current course and local reward terms before you start, since promotions and operator conditions can change.

Why This Matters for New Riders

Short online training does not replace real-world practice, but it can give new riders a better starting point for understanding local rules, parking expectations, and basic safety decisions before their first trip.

For e-bike riders, I would treat RideSafe Academy as one useful education option rather than a substitute for checking the laws and rules that apply to your own bike, route, city, or trail.
