❌ Cons

  • It’s heavy—like, 80 pounds heavy. Expect a workout when lifting or carrying.
  • Brakes are OK, not powerful. Stopping distances are longer than smaller, lighter bikes.
  • Motor re-engagement delay—some riders notice a slight lag after braking, adjustable in settings.
  • Legal concerns—a 1000W bike may need registration depending on where you ride.
  • Support can be hit or miss—some customers report delays or parts backorders.

Ride Quality

The Obsidian ST 2.0 rides like a plush bulldozer: cushy, stable, and capable. The suspension and fat tires soak up rough terrain, making it excellent for gravel, dirt roads, and sand. It feels less nimble on singletrack but prioritizes stability and comfort, especially with the hydraulic seat adjuster that dials in height on the fly.

Real-World Testing (Independent Reviews)

  • Electric Bike Report found that although the ST didn’t quite hit the 80-mile range mark, it still outperformed many peers—riding almost 5 hours on PAS 1 and just over 2 hours on PAS 5.
  • The Speed Test showed smooth, intuitive PAS level progression. Hill test results were among the top in its class.
  • Braking: measured stopping distance was slightly higher than average (24′10″ vs. ~24′4″), but still within expected range for such a heavy bike.
  • All told, performance in speed, torque, and range testing held up impressively on rough terrain.

What Riders are Saying…

From Trustpilot:

“I was not compensated for this review. After logging over 700 miles on my Mokwheel bike, I can confidently say it delivers excellent performance. The pedal assist features makes commuting and daily rides smooth and enjoyable. The battery holds a strong charge. Customer service was prompt and efficient when I needed a rear view mirror replacement. While the frame is a bit heavy, the bike’s overall quality, reliability, and comfort make it a standout choice. I highly recommend it.”

Others said:

“We bought two e-bikes after researching several independent reviews and went with Mokwheel. We couldn’t be happier. The bikes were delivered quickly and were easy to assemble and have worked great.

From Reddit:

From r/ebikes:

“I’ve enjoyed mine so far! I got the basalt st recently and it’s been great. I’m using it as my main commuting vehicle. Great battery life, ride, and they usually throw in free accessories on top of a 2 year warranty.”

Another rider shared:

“I got mine about two weeks ago and LOVE it! Ride it to work almost everyday. I have contacted support a couple times and have always heard back within 24 hours, a lot of times in just a few hours.”

Should You Buy the Mokwheel Obsidian ST 2.0?

If you want a comfortable, powerful, all-terrain step-through with optional solar charging, the Obsidian ST 2.0 is worth strong consideration. It brings genuine upgrades (Shimano 10-speed, hydraulic seat, detachable display), plenty of range, and strong rider feedback. Just be prepared for the heavy weight and double-check your local eBike laws if riding a 1000 W motor

Two Solid Alternatives

1. Himiway Cobra / Cobra Pro
Another full-suspension fat-tire monster. The Pro variants offer a mid-drive upgrade, with aggressive off-road ability and solid range. Suspension quality and customer support get mixed reviews. Price ranges between $2.3k–$3.3k depending on trim.

2. Cyrusher Ranger
Full suspension, fat-tire hybrid offering a ~1040Wh battery. Slightly lighter, stable, and well-reviewed for mixed-terrain riding. Fit and fork quality are sometimes questioned, but overall a comfortable, planted ride. Priced around $2.6k–$2.8k.
