Segway Introduces $1,999.99 Xyber Air Moto-Style E-Bike
Segway has introduced the Xyber Air, a new moto-style electric bike with a $1,999.99 MSRP and selectable riding modes. It keeps the original Xyber’s angular appearance while shifting the focus toward everyday street riding.
For riders comparing moped-style e-bikes, the announcement adds another option around the $2,000 mark. The biggest questions are how its riding modes fit local rules and whether its weight suits your daily routine.
Segway Xyber Air: Key Specifications
The following are manufacturer-published specifications, rather than EBE test results.

Segway’s Xyber Air versus Xyber comparison lists front suspension for the Air, rather than the original Xyber’s front-and-rear suspension setup.
Selectable Classes, With a California Exception
Segway says the Air offers Class 1 pedal assistance up to 20 mph, Class 2 operation with throttle assistance up to 20 mph, and Class 3 pedal assistance up to 28 mph where permitted. Hybrid Mode combines throttle assistance up to 20 mph with pedal assistance up to 28 mph, but Segway says Hybrid Mode is unavailable in California.
Selectable modes do not guarantee access to every road, trail or bike path. Check the rules for your location and configuration before riding. Our guide to e-bike classes explains the basic differences.
Range Claims and Connected Features
Segway advertises up to 58 miles per charge and says that figure comes from testing with a 165-pound rider on flat pavement. Treat it as a manufacturer estimate, not a promise of 58 miles at maximum speed or on throttle alone. Speed, hills, rider weight, temperature and tire pressure can change actual range.
According to Segway’s announcement, equipment includes traction control, hill-start assistance, hill-descent control, AirLock proximity unlocking, Apple Find My compatibility and GPS tracking. Segway says GPS and cloud services are free for the first year, then require a subscription. It also lists UL 2271 and UL 2849 certifications.
When Will Ordering Open?
Electrek’s October 20 report says ordering opens October 27, 2026. That is an ordering date, not a confirmed delivery date. Check Segway’s product page for current availability, pricing and shipping information.
My Take
I think the Xyber Air is worth watching for riders who like motorcycle-inspired styling and want an option around $2,000. The class settings and connected security features give buyers useful details to compare.
The 84-pound weight would be one of my first considerations. Before buying, think about getting it up steps, storing it and loading it onto a vehicle rack. I would also want a test ride to judge pedaling comfort and low-speed handling before recommending it for a particular rider.
