Testing & Performance
Speed & Assist Behavior
On paved shared-use trails, testers evaluated the Triker in both torque-sensor and cadence-sensor modes at two top speeds โ the default 12 mph cap and the unlocked 20 mph setting.
In cadence mode, each pedal-assist level provided a smooth, predictable jump in speed, reaching top velocity easily under the higher limit. In torque mode, testers hit the 12 mph default by PAS 4; when unlocked, the biggest jump occurred between PAS 1 and PAS 2, with smaller increments after.
The ride feel differs noticeably between the two: cadence mode offers easy, effortless acceleration, while torque mode reacts more directly to pedal pressure for a sportier feel. The throttle can either follow PAS speed limits or operate independently depending on configuration.
Across all modes, the Triker delivered well-controlled, confidence-inspiring acceleration โ lively at higher assist levels, gentle at lower ones.

Range
Independent range tests showed the Triker covering nearly 41 miles in torque-sensor mode at about 14 mph using its highest assist level. This puts it well above the average for similar mid-tier trikes, which tend to hover around 29 miles under comparable conditions.
Velotricโs own claims โ up to 60 miles (PAS) and 50 miles (throttle) โ are plausible for light loads, moderate speeds, and efficient riding. The 804 Wh battery and torque-sensor modulation make it especially power-efficient. The included 3 A fast charger refills the battery in about 5.5 hours.
Hill Climb
The Triker handled climbs impressively. On steep test hills, it reached the top 18 seconds faster by throttle and 14 seconds faster when pedaling than comparable 500 W trikes. Its 750 W motor (1,300 W peak) and 90 Nm torque provide muscle to spare, making it a solid choice for hilly areas or heavy cargo loads.
Braking
Brake tests measured an average stopping distance of 11 ft 1 in, about two feet shorter than typical mid-tier trikes. Its hydraulic disc system with thicker-than-usual 2.4 mm rotors helps resist heat buildup and brake fade, keeping stops quick and consistent even under load.
Ride Quality
Velotricโs attention to comfort shines through. The 80 mm suspension fork and 3-inch Kenda tires soak up road chatter and light gravel vibration. The saddle with adjustable backrest and roomy cockpit make long rides easy on the body, and the adjustable stem lets riders fine-tune their reach and posture.
We did note some frame flex under heavier loads โ a common trait of step-thru trikes โ and a few reviewers observed that the saddle mount may loosen over time. Still, the overall feel is stable and planted, especially in corners, thanks to the trikeโs substantial weight and wide rear stance.
