Nationwide Vivi E-Bike Recall: Stop Using These Models Immediately
Last Updated on July 19, 2025 by Kristina
Thousands of Vivi e-bikes are being recalled nationwide due to a serious fire risk linked to their batteries. Customers are being urged to stop using the affected models immediately.
Why Are Vivi E-Bikes Being Recalled?
The issue comes down to the 36-volt lithium-ion batteries used in certain Vivi e-bike models. These batteries can overheat and catch fire.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Vivi has already received 14 reports of batteries overheating — including three fires. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far.
What You Need to Know
- Recall Date: July 17, 2025
- Units Affected: About 24,000 Vivi e-bikes
- Hazard: Battery overheating poses a fire and burn risk
- Remedy: Vivi will provide a free replacement battery and charger
These e-bikes were sold between December 2020 and November 2023. Prices ranged from $365 to $950.
Where Were These Bikes Sold?
Vivi e-bikes were sold online through major retailers, including:
- Walmart
- Amazon
- eBay
- Wayfair
- Wish
- Sears
- AliExpress
- Vivi’s own website
How to Check If Yours Is Affected
The CPSC released a list of affected models and battery numbers. Here’s how to check:
- Bike Model: Check your sales order or look for a label on the bike frame.
- Battery Model: Look directly on the battery itself.
If your bike is listed, stop using it immediately.
How to Dispose of the Battery Safely
Do NOT throw the battery in the trash, recycling bin, or a retail battery drop-off box.
Instead:
- Contact your local hazardous waste (HHW) collection center.
- Call ahead to make sure they accept recalled lithium-ion batteries.
- If not, ask your local government for disposal instructions.
- Email proof of safe disposal to vivirecall@163.com.
What Should You Do Now?
If you own a Vivi e-bike:
- Stop riding it right away.
- Check your model and battery numbers.
- Contact Vivi for a free replacement battery and charger.
- Dispose of the old battery properly and send confirmation.
Why This Matters
Vivi e-bikes are some of the most affordable on the market. But this recall is a major safety wake-up call for anyone buying low-cost e-bikes online.
If you’re unsure about your e-bike or thinking of buying one soon, take this as a reminder: always check the brand’s safety record, and make sure you’re not sacrificing safety for savings.
