Why Transporting an E-Bike in Rain Can Be Different

One situation riders may not think about is carrying an e-bike on a hitch rack or roof rack through heavy rain.

Rain Is Not the Same as Pressure Washing or Submersion

This distinction matters. Many properly designed e-bike systems are intended to tolerate ordinary wet-weather riding, but that does not make every electrical component waterproof.

CPSC said the affected batteries can unexpectedly ignite or explode, with the risk noted especially when the battery or harness has been exposed to water and debris.

This warning applies to those specific battery models. It does not mean every Rad battery or every wet e-bike battery has the same defect.

  2. Display and controls – Does the screen power up? Are the buttons responsive? Is there condensation or an error code?
