California’s E-Bike Voucher Program Is Back — Here’s How to Snag Up to $2,000 Off

Looking to finally make the jump to an electric bike? California’s e-bike incentive program is making a comeback, and it’s offering residents another shot at scoring up to $2,000 off a new e-bike.
Starting April 29 at 5 PM, the second application window will open with 1,000 vouchers up for grabs. If you want in, timing is everything.
How It Works
To get started, you’ll need to hop online between 5:00 and 6:00 PM (Pacific Time) and enter the official waiting room. That one-hour window is key—everyone who joins during that time will be shuffled into a randomized queue, so it’s not about being first in line. Everyone gets a fair chance.
Once you’re in, cross your fingers. Demand was off the charts when the program first launched in December 2024. All 1,500 vouchers were gone in minutes, and the queue ballooned to 100,000 people. So yeah—it gets real.
Who Can Apply?
This initiative is run by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) as part of a bigger push to make clean transportation more accessible—especially for those who need it most.
You’re eligible if you:
- Live in California
- Are 18 or older
- Have a household income at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level
If you’re approved, you’ll get a voucher worth up to $2,000, which you can use at approved retailers to buy an eligible e-bike.
