Cowboy E-Bikes Saved from Collapse with New Funding from Rebirth Group
After months of rumors about its collapse, Cowboy says it’s here to stay.
The Brussels-based e-bike maker has secured short-term funding to keep going — and a bigger lifeline from Rebirth Group Holding that could secure its future for the long haul.

Cowboy had been showing worrying signs. New e-bikes were taking months to arrive. Repairs stalled because parts weren’t available. Payments were late. Debt was piling up.
Many feared it was about to follow in the footsteps of VanMoof.
Enter Rebirth Group
Rebirth isn’t a stranger. The company owns Re-cycles, a French bike manufacturer that recently took over Cowboy’s e-bike assembly.
The goal? Speed up deliveries and improve support. But the switch from Hungary caused delays and headaches in the short term.
Now, with this new deal, Rebirth has even more reason to keep Cowboy alive.
The Toughest Year Yet
A costly recall of the Cruiser ST added to the trouble. Cowboy blames an “unapproved change from a supplier” for the issue.
The recall hit during the post-pandemic “bike boom hangover” — a tough time for the entire e-bike industry.
What’s Next
Funding is in place. Replacement frames are ready. The first recall hub is open, with more planned in other cities.
Cowboy says it will spend the rest of the year getting back on track: delivering bikes, fixing open issues, and winning back customer trust.
