Bosch might need to watch its back. DJI, best known for dominating the skies with its drones, is making serious moves on the ground — and it’s got the e-bike world buzzing. Several bicycle brands have just unveiled their first models built around DJI’s compact yet mighty Avinox drive system. And let’s just say, early signs point to a game-changer.

Names like Forbidden, Unno, Smartmotion, Megamo, Paprika 53, and Teewing are all in the mix, rolling out new e-bikes powered by the Avinox motor. What makes this system stand out? For starters, it’s packing a serious punch: a 1000W motor delivering a whopping 120Nm of max torque. That’s a lot of muscle in a surprisingly lightweight and compact setup. Reviewers who’ve gotten their hands (and feet) on the Avinox so far have been pretty impressed, which says a lot considering this is DJI’s first big push into the e-bike market.

The Avinox system originally made its debut in a mid-drive electric mountain bike from DJI’s offshoot brand, Amflow — a bold entry into a category where Bosch has long been the undisputed leader. Now, with these new announcements, it’s clear DJI has no plans to play small. Most of the fresh Avinox-powered bikes are built for the trails, with robust e-MTB designs ready to tackle rough terrain. But there’s also something for the gravel crowd: Paprika 53 is shaking things up with its Model 25 GT, positioning it as an electric gravel bike aimed at riders who want versatility beyond the mountain.

While I haven’t personally put the Avinox system to the test yet, everything I’ve seen and read suggests DJI is bringing the same innovation and precision it’s known for in the drone world to its e-bike tech. And if this is just the beginning, it’s going to be exciting to see how the market responds — and how rivals like Bosch rise to the challenge.

Are you excited to see DJI stepping into the e-bike scene? Would you ride a bike powered by the Avinox drive system? Let’s talk in the comments — and if you’ve tried one already, we’d love to hear your first impressions!
