Specialized Recalls Popular E-Bikes Over Clothing-Snatching Chain Guard Issue

The issue affects the Turbo Como IGH, Turbo Como SL IGH, and Turbo Vado IGH models sold between 2021 and 2024. These bikes, which feature internal gear hubs (IGH), have chain guards that could snag baggy clothing and pull it into the drivetrain. Not exactly the kind of excitement you want on your commute. Both belt-drive and chain-drive versions fall under this recall, while models with traditional rear derailleurs are off the hook.
So far, no serious injuries have been reported, which is a relief. Specialized, clearly aiming to stay ahead of the curve, is taking fast action to keep riders safe. They’re offering a free fix — just schedule an appointment with your local Specialized retailer, and they’ll swap out the faulty chain guard at no cost.
